Night Huntress is BY FAR my favorite series in this genre. It has everything I love in a paranormal. This is actually my fourth reading of the book and I never get tired of Cat and Bones.
Cat is my favorite heroine of any book I’ve read. She is an awesomely tough kick ass woman, but still feminine and caring. However, that softness is balanced by a cynical relentless side that shows no mercy to her enemies. Her mother was raped by a vampire, which is how she was born and why she fights vampires. There is a part of her that hates herself for what her mother suffered. She feels guilty, like a part of her is evil because her father was evil. That self-loathing is what propels her. She’s on a course to kill every vampire she meets—they’re all evil monsters after all. Then she meets Bones.
Bones is the best hero. I love him. He’s my book boyfriend, and I’ll fight to the death for him:) He’s ruthless, but also caring. I love the way Cat starts off thinking he’s evil but slowly learns that maybe not all vampires are bad. And he cracks me up. I love the way he talks and the English expressions. He is in no way polite. His favorite hobby is seeing all the ways he can make the prudish Cat blush from innuendo. It’s awesome. I especially love her dirty talk training.
Their relationship develops so perfectly. Their first kiss was so sweet it had my tummy fluttering. If I could recommend only one book to paranormal lovers, it would be the Night Huntress series.
My favorite quote is the philosophy Bones lives by:
“There is only one way to fight, and that's dirty. Clean gentlemanly fighting will get you nowhere but dead, and fast. Take every cheap shot, every low blow, absolutely kick people when they're down, and maybe you'll be the one who walks away."
