I love the Mallory novels. And one thing you can count on when reading a Carol O'Connell novel is this: There is going to be a really quirky character in there somewhere. This book has a LOT of them. Sometimes it was distracting keeping it all straight. And I was a little (and I say, a little) disappointed in the ending of the book. I felt somewhat deflated after all the wandering & mental work I did to get there and its like, well that's a wrap folks.

Another thing I enjoy about Ms. O'Connell's novels is she doesn't jump her characters into bed and waste a lot of time describing sex to me. The sexual tension between Oren and Isabelle is a theme well carried throughout the book.

Overall, I enjoyed the book much more than Judas Child, but not as much Stone Angel or Find Me of the Mallory series. It's still worth the read.
