Annie Freeman's Fabulous Traveling Funeral

Though the title of the book clearly said "funeral," I did not realize that the entire premise of the book was an honest-to-goodness traveling funeral until I began the first chapter. Right away, I was immersed in the spectacular story of Annie G. Freeman and the legacy that she left behind for her five special friends and the myriad of others whose lives were touched during their journey across the US, scattering her ashes from her red sneakers. Though a great deal of the book did get very weepy and trite, I found the majority of it to be very thought-provoking and well worth the read. I cannot imagine reading another book of its kind.
