Arthur and his friend, Leaf are swept out of the hospital (literally) out into the Border Seas where Drowned Wednesday commands. She is a whale, the size of a small country, and can do nothing but eat after being cursed by the other Days because she didn't want to take part in their plan. Leaf is captured and Arthur, who is still nursing a broken leg, is picked up by a scavengers. With a pirate trying to kill him and a whale trying to eat him, Arthur enlist the help of the Piper Rats in finding the key and freeing Wednesday of the curse.
