it was amazing
bookshelves: poetry, scottish

Not sure if this is exactly the same edition as mine but I'm sure they all contain the same works anyway. I love Scott's poetry and some of his verses really capture the essence of the land I call home...take a look at "Lay of the Last Minstrel" Canto Sixth. I always keep a copy of this book either by my chair or by my bedside. I know Scott is often criticized for creating the "shortbread tin" image of Scotland but I find it hard to criticise him as he was one of the few upper class characters of his time to truly present Scotland (particularly the often misrepresented Highlanders) as a cultured, intelligent and sophisticated people with a unique way of life. A salute to you Sir!
