Stories I Only Tell My Friends is one of the very best memoirs I’ve read in a long time; it is a surprisingly moving and honest look at a young actor’s life and the trade-offs he has made between high life and home life. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Rob Lowe fan or not, as “Stories” is an extremely well written, clever and funny documentation of one’s man’s quest and passion to become an actor. If your considering this book, I urge you to listen to this on audio instead, as not only is the author a pleasure to listen to but he emulates a plethora of actors from Cary Grant to Chris Farley with killer imitations. The NYT’s review says “His brief vocal characterizations of well-known figures such as Bill Clinton, Cary Grant, and entertainment impresario Bernie Brillstein are remarkable. This audiobook is much like a good film: absorbing as well as entertaining.”
