The Effect of Living Backwards
by Heidi Julavits
by Heidi Julavits
The book is really confusing--it jumps from person to person with no real plot advancement. The book seemed to have no purpose! I read it all the way through on the hope that something would happen--the characters would grow, the hijacking would make sense, the story plot would do SOMETHING (anything!), but was disappointed. I do, however, think that this book would be great for a philosophy course or anyone interested in philosophy. It poses a lot of hypotheticals...and doesn't seem to answer any of them. I don't recommend this book...but, if you're feeling particularly philosophical, give it a shot.
