Really enjoyed this book, which is set in the present but mankind is suffering from an act of terrorism which sees all pregnant women dying and the resultant breakdown of society and the the somewhat disturbing medical practices that become more common as they search for a cure.
The book is told from the point of view of a teenage girl and explores how the younger generation see the 'evil' adults who have destroyed the planet, each of her friends joins a different type of extreme group - such as joining animal activist groups, or extreme feminist groups, this happens amidst the breakdown in her parents marriage and makes her feel on the outside which results in the potentially heroic but also tragic ending.
