** spoiler alert ** A couple of great battles with Sharpe doing what he does best as well as the continuing struggle with Hexwell. The character of Hakeswill is so deliciously malevolent that at times you just want to reach into the book and throttle the guy. He's a slippery bugger and seems to have a similar luck to that of Sharpe. There was enough action that kept me driving through the novel at a fairly, but once again we are exposed to the good and evil of the British Army. William Dodd is also an interesting character we are introduced to. A good soldier, but misguided and driven by his ambition and arrogance.
