Violent, strange, compelling noir SF set in the distant future, where people can be downloaded into bodies, which they call sleeves. You can be male or female. Some - richer - people live for a very long time, and one of them hires the protagonist to investigate his murder. (He had a back up download, apparently.)

Blackbook Violent, strange, compelling and curiously fab. Love the trilogy. The 2nd one is a little slower. The 3rd one makes up for it. They are available in audio, as well.

Unfortunately I'm liking it less as I go along. Noir in any form requires a tight plot, and the book is kind of going off on a tangent. We'll see how it turns out. :)

Courtney Ostaff I really liked them. At the time, they were completely new cyberpunk.

Blackbook I agree, at the time they were completely new. I think of the series as more political and having a certain philosophical bent than great Noir fiction. I like his other work, as well. Have you read them?

Jason Douglas Very good books.
