The Outcast

Really odd book... took me a couple of attempts to read it and it was most definitely in the category of "Book to put on hold if something else comes along".
It just didn't get me in any way, surprising as some of the topics were reasonably close to home. The story just seemed to sweep them all under the carpet as I guess was done in those days, but personally that doesn't interest me. It could have been so much more if it actually looked at how the characters dealt with their issues. A couple of points were spot on but too much of the book was this happened and then that happened.
A shame as the "prose" was quite nice and flowed and the content was there... they just didn't seem to connect or when they did, the story quickly moved on. Had quite high hopes but disappointed me.
