Family farming, unsubsidized farming, is hard! That's the clear message here. Kristen Kimball becomes more likable as the book goes on. It is certainly a lifestyle switch to go from being a NY journalist (and vegetarian!) to an organic (meat eating) farmer in New England. The descriptions of her parents are hilarious - I wonder what they think now? I love the CSA-type mission that the couple have. What a pity there isn't more of that. I loved Tavia Gilbert's reading - she did a really nice job and has a lovely voice.
