I found this book through a review source that I can no longer remember, but now having read it, I would agree that it is fantastic. (as well as being fantastical) Very well written story about a British boy in mid-20th century sent to live with his great grandmother at the family's ancestral home in the English countryside. Extremely well written, and definitely a page turner. Whimsical, magical, and bittersweet without being maudlin. I now have to read the rest in the series. Lovely.
