This is an interesting sort of book: part creativity guide, part stream-of-consciousness questions about images, and part autobiography. I will admit that my perspective is probably biased because I did not do all the exercises in this book (and there are a lot of them!), but I didn't really find it all that useful or enjoyable. It's hard to criticize this book for formlessness or lack of focus, because the writing method it argues for is this sort of therapeutic, directionless, exploratory game-playing. There's really something to be said for that-- it's an important part of the creative process-- but maybe I was waiting for the rich, playful drawings to be translated into something more polished and linear. I think the autobiographical parts did that really well. I just wish there was more of that and less of the working-through.
