For some reason, this book fell kind of flat for me. No question, there is a great deal of solid, helpful advice for dealing with addiction, consisting mainly of meditating and developing equanimity while identifying the triggers for addictive behaviors. Nonetheless, it was a pretty boring read, and I found myself comparing it to other psychotherapy/Buddhism books by Mark Epstein and Stephen Cope, two authors who do such an excellent job of blending crazy-insightful wisdom with really compelling case studies that read like best-selling novels. If you need basic tools for overcoming addictive patterns, however, and you want to use meditation as a tool in that journey, this book will certainly provide a good overview of the process.
