That's what Lewis is talking about here.

Self-aggrandizing moralist Christians are indirectly taken to task here, in the most self-effacing and humane way. Clearly written for those who believe in the Christian faith, but readable by anyone who wants to understand the essence of what Jesus of Nazareth was trying to teach -- no matter whether you choose to work through the New Testament's various books, you will find more honest appraisals of Christian belief here.

A healthy antidote to the Bible-thumpers, holy rollers, televangelists, and fake Christians who are so prevalent in American culture now. If you think Christians are hypocrites, you aren't yet familiar with the kind that Lewis was, or the kind Lewis wrote for.
