This book was amazing, I highly recommend it to everyone! It is about an Iranian girl that was taken political prisoner (at the age of 16) in Iran during the early 1980's. Her crime? Asking her calculus teacher to teach calculus rather than talking about political issues. The teacher refused and told Marina to leave class if she didn't like it, she left and so did the rest of the class. Even though the subject matter is heavy, the book is written in a very readable way. I read this book yesterday, couldn't put it down. Make sure you have some tissues handy!
