I enjoyed this book very much. The author managed to cover the 8th Air force bombing campaign from its conception right to the end of the war in a very thorough manner. I expected the book to be a bit biased but once underway I found the author to have a balanced perspective. I had not really realized just how many casualties the Americans took in this campaign. The author looks at the aircraft, the men, doctrine, targeting decision making, mistakes (ie: Sweinfurt and Polesti), the successes, losses, life as a POW, it goes on. Quite a long read but definitely worth the effort.
