really liked it

This is my first "read" book on Goodreads, so I'm not sure yet how harshly I'll rate my reads. Generally I have a high tolerance for anything that keeps me entertained. This book did that. Character driven yet enough of a whodunit to keep the plot interesting. The author draws a good picture of the societal rules and manners of the period, especially from a woman's point of view. But I found myself wishing the story was told in the main character's POV, because I never felt I had a good grasp of him. The author also had a habit of ending chapters in the (what I felt was the) middle of a conversation, which I admit seems like a good way of ending something if you're a writer who struggles with endings. As a reader, it could be annoying. Anyway, I liked it enough that I'll seek out other Andrew Taylor books.
