I just finished re-reading this. I read it in high school and loved the books. Only bad note, if you are not into descriptions this book can kind of drag. You will know all the flora and fauna and the shape of each mountain, crag and river in the british isles at the end of the book. But the story, wow! The legend of Arthur is, just that, a legend. It has been turned into such a huge myth and Mary Stewart follows the legend but tries to debunk it. Obviously, no one can know what really happened, but she gives logical explanations for some of the lore. At the same time, she gives it a mystical magical feel, just a little bit more realism. The set of three books is told from Merlin's POV and the last book is from Modred's POV (king Arthur's son from incest). Loved the first two, the third started to lose something, the last book didn't do as much for me.
