Freed from cross-company events, this part of the GotG tale (issues 20-25) does much better. The plotting's complex -- folks who were thought dead aren't, folks who really were dead come back, a couple of folks who should have been left dead aren't -- and loyalties are tested in all directions.

Good, well-written stuff, with decent artwork (varying, without clear credit, between issues). Abnett and Lanning continue to balance personal stories with lots of large, universe-shaking explosions, and juggle a cast of dozens with frightening ease.

Recommended for anyone with a fondness for Jim Starlin's old cosmic stable of characters.
