A really enjoyable read, especially since it lacks the Hollywood ending that almost ruined The Kite Runner for me, which seems to be able to remain topical. With the imminent end of operations in Afghanistan, and the unpredictable future that that will bring, Hosseini's carefully delivered insights into the lives of those in the unconquerable country become more relevant, sharper and more interesting.
