c2006. Another beautiful and lyrical story from the King of the Southern novel. There are so many wonderful, succinct phrases that it is impossible to pick one. I did not guess who was the mastermind behind everything and the shock reveal at the end was indeed a shock. Strangely, I felt it was this that let the entire plot down as, reflecting on the book after completion, I am not sure whether the particular character and the cameo outings (so to speak) were sufficient to support the ending. But you know what - it really didn't matter as I find it such a pleasure to read Mr Burke.
