I love when the characters in books go on physical journeys along with their personal journeys. In this book, Gull travels all over the Mediterranean. The places are so lushly described that they alone could have sold me on this book. But I found what I really loved about this book was how it challenged me. Gull is an oracle, a priestess of death. It forced me to take the side of something I feared: I wasn't allowed to forget that she was not only Gull, but Pythia too, and that all of her choices were influenced by both of her selves. I'd recommend picking this up. I have never read the Aenid, nor do I know the story. But this book was a good read on it's own merit.
