liked it

I liked it but I wish I'd liked it better. I know some parts of the storyline - pedophilia, torture etc upset some readers and it's true, I did get the feeling we were supposed to feel sympathy for a guy who wanted to abuse children, I didn't, but those parts of the story didn't spoil it for me, they just left me only wanting to give it three stars. I liked Eli - despite his-her faults. I liked Oskar but I didn't like any of the other characters. Maybe too many and too little detail on some and yet the subplots clogged up the novel. What I did like was the unrelenting horror of vampirism - the consequences for those infected and the detail the author used to explain the way the body was affected.
What I can say for the book is that it was certainly different!
