This book was a disappointment. That is to say, compared to other Christopher Moore books, it wasn't nearly as coherent and funny. In the grand scheme of things, it was still hilarious and silly and deep all at the same time.

What happens to an indian who defects (due to an eensy weensy murder) and lives amorphously among the whites? Coyote decides to pay him a visit and turn his life upside down, because being angry means you are still alive.

The good: The book has some hysterical moments and I LOVED the old stories of Coyote as if they were being told by a valley girl. Also, the entire "Coyote goes the Casino" thing was a riot. I loved his complaint that the medcine man with the stick, used cheating medicine to take his money.

The not great: Its supposed to be a satire, but at what point do sterotypes blur into satire? I also didn't buy the romance and the end felt tacked on and predictable. Not what one would expect from the man who brough us "Lamb", "Lust Lizard of Melancholy Cove" and "A Dirty Job".

All in all, I was diappointed because it was Christopher Moore and I know he can do better. If anyone else had written it, I would have liked it just fine and thought it was a riot.
