malcolm x seems to have been good at everything he ever tried (and he tried A LOT of stuff). he was so exceptionally intelligent and dedicated that he seems to have been capable of anything. but the most remarkable thing about him his was his ability, despite his fanatical dedication, to re-examine his own beliefs. this unusual capacity for self-reflection allowed him to reinvent himself over and over as he identified flaws in his thinking. for me this, as much as his courage or his passion or his ideals or his abilities, defines his greatness.
