FINALLY finished. I realize that it only took one day of my time, but really? that's one day that I could have spent listening to something, I don't know... GOOD. I only finished it out, because I'd stopped listening to a few books in a row before this one and felt guilty for the cost.
There are authors in this round-robin who I enjoy. Tess Gerritsen, for one. But when they all put their considerable talent together in this, it came out poorly. I think each author got a character synopsis, what was supposed to happen in that chapter, and then were told "go for it." The end result? Characters who had no character development, likability, and were flat. Each author seemed to say, "Oh, we're not supposed to like this person? I can do better than what came before me" and took each chapter as a challenge instead of trying for cohesion. As for the plot, I think I saw a plot bunny or two through the book, and there was a bit of a story in the end, but for the most part, it was a lot of "nothing's happening."
All in all, if you want to read a mystery book, DON'T bother with this one. Even if you're suckered into the amount of Names who are involved with it.
