liked it

Chris Bohjalian is my current favorite author and I loved the main character, Laurel, who was violently attacked while riding her bicycle in Vermont. This changes her profoundly and she becomes more withdrawn, but becomes a wonderful presence at her work in a homeless shelter. This complicated story revolves around the discovery of an extraordinary box of photographs that were perhaps taken by a mentally ill, homeless man. I became so involved in the story that I read it in an afternoon & evening, however the twist at the end was difficult for me. I had to process it by talking with my partner, Tom, this morning.

Barbaramunson I also found what the ending revealed to be very disturbing. I was surprised that the author created such a story.
