For a plane ride I decided to take along the final Hercule Poirot book: "Curtain", by Agatha Christie. I enjoyed it because it was a very quick and breezy read (perfect for the plane) and had a nice cast of characters. The pace was smooth and brisk, and the ending was interesting.
The following may or may not contain spoilers.
The book begins with Porot's best friend Arthur Hastings going to the hotel where he met Poirot to pay him a visit. Poirot is aging and ill, and doesn't have long to live. But although his body has given up on him, his mind is still sharp as ever! But Poirot needs Hasting's help. Poirot shows Hastings clippings of several different murders who's killers or outcomes seem cut and dry: but Poirot disagrees. He believes a person he calls "X" is responsible...and he is staying at the very same hotel! now it is up to Poirot and Hastings to stop the killer before he or she strikes again!
Fun concept, good final HURRAH to Poirot and a good way to end his mysteries. I did enjoy the "twist" ending but the small complaint I do have was the story seemed a bit short. I was done with the book by the time I had a flight layover, so I bought another book for the rest of the trip (That book was The Help by Kathryn Stockett...which is AMAZING but obviously a complete different genre!)!
