** spoiler alert ** Lots of fun until the last 50 pages, where the ending was really far-fetched. I mean, really, how likely is it that your enemies will plot to have your lover appear naked - on a certain day, at a certain time - on an elevator to distract your attention so a political assassination can take place? Or that some nut case would want to reenact a scene from the past, and orchestrate kidnappings to gather the cast from that scene, and prepare a bunker for the stage? The beginning of the novel has well-drawn characters and some insiders' details about the workings of the Secret Service that are true enough to keep one interested. And the pacing was fast and furious. But the ending undid the appeal of the beginning.
