** spoiler alert ** Although I really like the concept behind this Mills and Boon novel - the hero rescues the heroine from the sea only for her to have amnesia - the actual execution of the plot was implausible at best and laughable at worst. The amnesia, while a good plot device, is given an incredibly weak explanation (the girl was incredibly rich but lived in a loveless world so she forgot it). The romance, arguably the strongest part of the story, is glossed over in favour of lots of discussion of how the heroine Venus should want to remember her past, but doesn't really want to. The only bonding you actually see between the two main characters is their ability to appreciate making salad.
The worst part of the story though unfortunately comes at the end of the story, leaving this book on a low. It's only in a Mills and Boon world that someone can go missing for three months and only be reported missing so that their heirs can access their will.
It's such a pity that the dire writing and plotline ruined quite a good concept. Very disappointing.
