This was an emotional gathering of old friends for a sad event. I thought it was mostly a character study of how people react differently to the same situation, and how things never stay the same. Everyone grows up and becomes someone other than the kid you used to hang out with all the time.

Each person in the book had a unique story with both happy and sad parts. Seeing how they all fit together was an intricate puzzle of "real life"-ness.

A note about the ending, I was surprised by the ending, and thought it had both good and bad aspects. Not sure I agree with all of it, but like the rest of the story, it didn't just have one dimension.
