Disappointing in several ways! First of all I purchased this book through Scholastic and after reading it, I'm bothered that it's even offered through them. I'd try to sell it back to the used book store but then I'd be worried that some unsuspecting teen might actually read it!
I'd put a spoiler alert on this review but my intent in writing it is so that you won't waste the time reading it. I understand that the author was trying to point out the difference between surface beauty and "true beauty," but I had some moral problems with the characters.
My biggest problem is that the main character is constantly ogling the main young man and thinking things about how much she'd like to.....feel his lips on her neck, feel his hands, etc etc. And towards the end of the book we find out that she has had sex with her past boyfriend.
The conversations also all seemed to begin with some sort of profanity--as if they couldn't begin talking to one another without saying the obligatory name of deity. There were also several swear words mixed in as well--to add variety of course.
The romantic lead's name was Jacob which I thought should have been changed to Edward since he seemed able to read all of her thoughts after knowing her for 2 days. He was too perfect and unrealistic.
She finally came to appreciate her true beauty but by then I just didn't care anymore.
