This ended up being a pretty cool book. The story is interesting and even thought-provoking to one degree or another. It follows Ender, a small boy at the start of the book, as he is recruited into a battle-training program for children. Those running the program are hoping to uncover a great military leader who can help them defeat a hostile alien race. Card conjures up a great world as he describes the culture and the training games at the battle school. Some of the dialog—especially some of the tough kid talk—seemed a bit forced, and a few of the characters (generally the bad guys) are flat. I'm not much of a sci-fi guy, but this was definitely worth the time.
