This is an epic novel that takes a far flung black family from just after emancipation to the present.

Music is the thread that stitches the individual stories together, a metaphor for the struggles of life:achieving independence, success, perfection, and survival in an ever changing world. The themes of love, deception, and rebellion keep the pace hot and compelling.
