This is an extremely well-written book. It challenged my views of fact and fiction. The stories of war are so powerful - some moving and some doleful. I loved the casual tone in which O'Brien wrote in, especially with the dialogue between the soldiers: it helped me fully imagine myself in Vietnam during the war.
My only complaint is that the first two stories were a bit slow and hard to get into - 'Love' and 'Spin'. It wasn't until I read halfway through 'On the Rainy River' that I got into this novel.
Overall, though, the chapters I liked in particular were 'Sweetheart of Song Tra Bong' (it really gave me a Heart of Darkness feel, so haunting), 'Style', and of course, 'Speaking of Courage'.
