#89b Despite the lingering Tolkien taste, this book was much more unique as the true meaning of the Rift War title developed. I truly grew to love so many of the characters and I was happy with the resolutions they found. I love that I can read on in the series without feeling like I have to do it immediately because there was a firm conclusion to this book. This book comes close to five stars, but lacks a little in artistic merits (his plots and characters are great, but general literary skills could be a little better) and it's hard to judge anything so high fantasy as five stars when there's the gritty perfection of authors like Brent Weeks to contend with now.
