it was ok
bookshelves: 20th-century, classics, read-in-2011, american

I so wanted to like this, but this is just not the book for me. I know, I know, he's a genius, great American writer etc, but I just didn't care for this. Some parts were terribly tedious, especially the detailed descriptions of fishing and bull fighting. Other parts were more to my liking, but for some reason even those didn't work for me. I found the characters to be completely unrealistic and flat, which is the last thing I'd expected from Hemingway. What bothered me the most though was his writing style - that really dry, disconnected tone is just not enjoyable to me.
