really liked it

I'll admit, I am biased towards all things Steve Earle does, even when he goes way out on the crazy train sometimes...but this was pretty damn good. Sure, there were one or two sentences that I kind of questioned, but he shows his songwriting gifts tranfer well to the novel.

How to describe this book-Hank Williams's ghost? A junkie ex-MD abortionist? A giant Mexican dope dealer? An illegal immigrant girl with miraculous powers and a wrist wound suggestive of stigmata? The "Cider House Rules" in the funhouse mirror, or magic realism by way of a heroin den. It's hard to describe, obviously, but it really does work.

Honestly, one of the most enjoyable quick reads that I have had recently (this is also a limited sample, given the 4 month old dictator living in my house, but still).
