Of course, the stars are for one of the greatest plays ever written, but I have some reservations about this edition/translation. I'm kind of a footnote nut -- so it's rare for me to complain about footnotes. Here they are so copious (with no regard to what is essential to understanding the play, insight in the translator's choices, or garden variety commentary or trivia), that they are truly obtrusive. This might be an acceptable edition if you are studying the play or have some Russian language skills, but if you are looking for a reading or acting edition, look elsewhere.
