Why has it taken me so long to discover Thornton Wilder? What rock have I been under?

Although the century was still young (1927), after writing this book, Wilder was declared one of the leading novelists of the twentieth century. It is beautifully written. It needs to be re-read often.

"The writing, simple, straight, just and powerful, has not been surpassed in the present epoch. The author does not search for the right word. He calls; it comes." Arnold Bennett

I loved reading it. I've ordered his other works as well.
