Age of Readership:

8-9 years

one of a series

strong female characters

pencil drawn illustrations of the text for the paragraph before. Stylizied, kind of cartoon like. Each character is distinct, down to posture and gestures

Personal Reponse:

I don't know if it's all the YA books I've been reading that have got me used to an older age group, but this book was not a favorite. It was slow, and drawn out in places I didn't think it needed to be. Perhaps starting at the beginning of the Judy Moody series, I would feel differently. The story was plotted fairly well, but descriptions and dialogue sort of left the reader floating.

Curricular or programming connections:

I think this book would do well in a program marketing strong female main characters. It would also be a good recommendation for those who want something easy going and yet entertaining. It was funny enough to be a good laugh.
