 General response/reaction: When I first saw how big this book was I did not want to read this book at all. I was a little unsure of this book when I first started reading it. Once I got into the book I loved it. I actually stayed up one might till wee hours in the morning reading this book. Once I got started I could not put the book down. I am going to read the other two and then wait for the fourth one to come out. I would recommend this book to anyone. I feel that if someone does not really enjoy reading they would get into this book and love it. I would read this book again anytime. LOVED IT!!
 
 Subjects, Themes, and Big Ideas: Vampires, Changing schools and fitting in, Prom, Being with someone who is different then you, Divorce, Coming back to life, Love, and Friendship.
 
 Characters: Bella- is the main character, she tries to fit into her new school in Forks, Moves in with her dad and she falls in love with a vampire. Bella’s mother Renee misses her and her boyfriend is Phil and he has to move around a lot. Charlie is Bella’s dad, he is a police officer in Forks, Eric, Jessica, Angela, and Mike are all Bella’s friends, Tyler who almost hit Bella in the parking lot of school and is always trying to do something good to her because of that, Jacob Black and his dad Billy who Charlie bought Bella’s truck off of and they do not like the Cullen’s family, Dr. Carlisle Cullen and his wife Esme who adopted Edward, Emmett, Alice, Rosalie and Jaspar and are all vampires. Edward falls in love with Bella and saves her life in many different occasions, the hunters Laurent, Victoria, and James who are also all vampires but a different type and James tried to kill Bella.
 
 
 
 Plot summary:
 Bella is moving back in with her father in Forks. She was living with her mother in Phoenix but she is dating Phil and he has to move around a lot. Bella is trying to find new friends at her new high school. She never really had any dates at her old school and was always very shy. She meets a group of people and becomes really good friends with them. But she is really interested in a group of people who set at a different lunch table then anyone else. Her friends tell her it is the Cullen family and they are a little different. Edward who she was really drawn to was very good looking. On a snowy day Tyler came in to fast to the parking lot and started to slide he was heading straight toward Bella and out of no where Edward was there to save her. She did not know where he came from but was glad that he saved her life. Bella really started to like him but could not figure him out he talked to her sometimes but other times seemed really mad at her. Edward was her partner is biology and Bella felt him looking at her often but he had his chair far apart from her. As time went on Bella and Edward started talking to one another regularly. Bella was starting to fall in long with Edward. Bella’s friends all started to ask her to the dance but she told them all that she was going to Seattle that day. She made that up b/c she did not want to go to the dance. Bella went dress shopping with the girls to find their dress for the dance. Bella told them she wanted to look at this book store and they went different directions. Bella ended up getting lost because she was not familiar with the place. These people started to try to attack her and she did not know where to go b/c she was lost. Edward sensed that she was in trouble and read her mind and he came and saved her from the boys. They ended up having dinner together instead of Bella and the girls. Edward said that he would drive there with her to Seattle. He ended up canceling and they spent the day together. Bella really found out a lot about Edward that day and she got her first kiss from him then. He kept telling her that is was really risky for her to be with him. By then she knew that he was a vampire and his entire family was. That did not seem to bother Bella at the least. From then on they grew really close to one another and Bella started to set with him in the lunch room. Edward would pick her up from school and would wait after each of her classes for her. They were doing everything together and Bella did not mind if her life was in risk being with him she really like d him. As time went on Bella met the Cullen’s family and they all seemed to really like her. They invited her to a baseball game they were going to be playing later that night. That night changed everything for Bella. During the game some hunters came by who were also vampires and smelt that Bella was human. That started a chase for the Cullen family to get Bella out of there safely and to take her far away. She had to lie to her dad and tell him she was going back to Phoenix that she hated Forks. He did not really know that James the vampire was hunting her to eat her. Lots went on with the hunt and it came down to James tricking her that he had her mom captured and Bella believed him. When she got to her old dance studio he just had a video recording of her mother’s voice and he attacked Bella. He broke her leg, fractured some ribs, and put venom in her body. Edward found Bella just in time to suck the blood out of her and get the venom out of her and save her life. He stayed with her in the hospital all the time she was there. He also told her that he loved her forever and that things would work out between then. Edward took Bella to the prom and said they had a future. Bella was back in Forks and she was going to stay there. 
 
 
 Strengths (including reviews and awards): I thought that this book was very detailed I felt like I was actually in the book and could see everything. The chapters were very long but you always wanted to continue on with the story. I feel that this book could be for both genders to enjoy reading. The #1 New York Times bestseller book. Publishers Weekly best book of the year and a teen people hot list pick.
 
 Drawbacks or other cautions: Some people may not like the fact that half of the characters are vampires and have been brought back into the world. There was one chapter that was pretty bad when Bella got attacked by a vampire and was injured. Then Edward had to suck the venom out of her for her to survive.
