it was amazing
bookshelves: mystery

Kate Atkinson is my new favorite mystery writer. I listened to this on audiobook. It was on the sale list and sounded good so I ordered it. Best buy yet. I love the British scene and the way Atkinson nails the modern pop culture wit that my favorite mystery writers employ (Nevada Barr and Kathy Reich to name two). I know the humor is meant as an equalizer for topics that are difficult, like child abduction and murder and the murder of prostitutes, which happen to be central in this particular story. Atkinson's main characters are endearing and flawed. I thoroughly enjoyed the book, so much so that I immediately got hold of the first in the series with this particular sleuth, Jackson Brody. I'm well into reading it and enjoying it too.
