I was disappointed in this book as I thought the main character, Rose is weak. She was a supermodel who married a lawyer. Her first husband, the father of her oldest child, Melly divorced her then died a year later. Melly has a birthmark on her cheek and they moved to another town because she was the victim of bullying. Rose volunteers at the school lunchroom to oversee what happens to her daughter. When she witnesses Amanda spreading jelly on her cheek and laughing with her two friends, Rose intervenes. The children are all to be out in the playground but Rose decides to talk to them about their behavior. An explosion occurs and Rose is knocked unconsious. When she comes to, she sees one little girl running out the door and she helps the other two to their feet and steers them to the hallway where she sees a teacher standing at the door. Rose turns back to find Melly in the handicapped bathroom. Melly is unconcious but Rose is able to break in and save her. At first, she is deemed a hero but then she finds out Amanda went back into the cafeteria and was overcome with smoke, she ends up in a coma in ICU. Rose's husband realizes the gravity of the situation as suddenly Rose is accused to saving her daughter over the other children. He hires the best criminal lawyer he can find but Rose adamantly refuses to accept their advice. I found this very frustrating as she just doesn't seem to get the situation, she ignores her husband's advice and goes to the wake of the 3 school employees as well and finds herself in a volatile situation. In the end, she goes maverick and saves the day making her once again a hero. The plot was good but the follow-through did not meet my expectations.
