Bonhoeffer was an extraordinary man who is best known for his work as a Christian theologian who participated in failed attempts to assassinate Hitler. This biography tells of his family and his childhood, how he became who he was, and how he came to decide that Hitler needed to disappear by any means necessary. But one of the things I liked most about this book is that Metaxas really paints a picture of what Germany was like before and during WWII, how Hitler came to power, and the attitude of most Germans at the time.
