I loved this book!! I loved Sydney. I loved Horst. I loved the story. I love that there were splashes of swimming here and there. The details were vivid, and helped bring the story alive for me. I loved the history. Deford did a great job with the twists in this book. There were many surprises. I loved that Sydney was sharing her story with her son before she was dying, even if there were parts I couldn't imagine any parent sharing with their child, but they were both old, (I think that makes it okay). It did surprise me that Deford didn't solicit a stronger reaction from Teddy (Sydney's son) at many of the things she was sharing with him. Loved it!!
