Read from July 16 to 24, 2011

I hadn't read any Mary Higgins Clark books since The Cradle Will Fall many years ago. I remembered that it was a really good, but scary book. Why I hadn't been reading any of Clark's thrillers, I don't know, but when this one was loaned to my by a friend, I decided to try again.

The novel is about a serial murderer who kills lonely women, always giving them a turquoise ring, inscribed "You Belong To Me." As more potential witnesses emerge, however, he needs to eliminate the possibility of being discovered and has to kill them too. Tying all the clues together is Dr. Susan Chandler, a psychologist with a radio show. She has a guest psychologist on her show who she interviews about his book Vanishing Women, which is when the story of Regina Claussen comes out. Regina is one of the victims of the serial murderer, which leads former prosecutor Dr. Susan Chandler to find her killer.

Clark has a way of making several characters in the book seem to be strong suspects, and she keeps you guessing until the very end. An excellent read!
