I have had this book on my shelf for a couple of years now, but after reading several reviews of it I just wasn't sure if I was up to reading it . But after reading Hosseini's first book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, I had to read this one too...
"Powerful...haunting...astonishing...redemptive..." are all words used to describe this book, and it is all of them... not to mention heart-breaking and gut-wrenching. But also worth it.
However, what I appreciated most was learning about the human side of Afghanistan...a beautiful and decent country before war took over...
